Glass Products - A New Need In Every Household

You must have caught a glimpse of that beautiful pair of glass bangles while walking past your favorite showroom. Or perhaps a glass decorative piece somewhere down that line? Seems rather intriguing does it not?

Glass production has been one of the most prominent works since centuries and has become a very diverse field today. It has also held a very eminent position in India's history. Firozabad, located in Uttar Pradesh has been producing glass bangles for more than 200 years. Commonly known as the glass industry, it has catered to the needs of generations of families.

Production Process-
  • To make the glass, ingredients like oxides of either aluminum or magnesium are used, which are also referred to as soda, along with silica and lime. The molten glass is obtained by heating the mixture, of a mentioned proportion, to 1200 degrees C, which renders the glass in a liquid form.
  • This molten glass is then introduced to rapid cooling which is also termed as quenching. Safety glass is subjected to high tensile force and compression so as to get the desired thickness and shape
  • By heating this mixture over a series of times, the compressive and tensile force is reduced so as to get the strength in the glass as required.
  • The main advantage of this glass is that, in the event of a mishap, to escape, this glass can be broken by a metal object and breaks up into pebbles rendering it harmless.
  • Ovens used in the heating of the Glass Production process vary in all sorts of shapes and sizes from a small unit to an assembly line that include conveyor belts carrying glasses over it.
  • Different cooling methods of cooling are adapted for the making of the safety glass. In earlier times, sand and brine were used for cooling. Instead, recently cold air jets are used to cool the glass rapidly. The use of these air jets renders the cost of production very low. When compared to laminated glass, this type of method is much economical.
Uses?
  • Glass products are used as items of decoration at ones workplace or home.
  • Glass can be used in the form of interiors of a building.
  • Glass screens are being used in cases of mirrors or windows.
  • Custom made glass products can be made as per your requirement. This means you can customize your own table, shelves etc.
