Overview of Oil Seals

Oil Seals are also called dirt and grease seals. These are used for closing the spaces between moving and stationary components of any mechanical equipment. These seals do not allow the lubricant to escape from machine and also prevent the entry of harmful contaminants inside any machine. These seals protect roller bearings, sleeve bearings and all kinds of precision constructed bearings. These seals are available in various designs and shapes. These are generally used in various industries like the automotive, oil refineries and power transmission.

Construction
Metal ring is used to provide structural stability to these seals. These metal rings act as inner skeleton. The external layers of these seals are generally made from rubber but other types of materials are also used if required. Generally spring is used near the lips of these seals to prevent leakage of lubricants. Depending on the application of these Oil Seals, the outer layer can be made from silicone, PTFE and poly acrylate.
Rubber which is used in these seals is generally treated in order to make them resistant to corrosion and wearing. Nitrillic rubber is generally used with grease, diesel and mineral oils. Silicon and polyacryllic seals are used with various motor oils and fluroelastomer seals are used to withstand high temperature.
Types of oil seals
The V ring types usually have a thinner flap and a thick base.  These components form a right angle. These seals are easily installed and can be used during high pressure application. There are seals which are wide and have parallel groves. These are generally known as labyrinth seals and it creates a perfect maze for obstructing lubricants from escaping.
Manufacturing
The manufacturing companies of these seals use the finest type of materials for manufacturing these items. They have proper tools and well trained staffs. Most of these manufacturing companies directly send these seals to various industries. One can contact these companies to purchase proper seals at a reasonable price. But before buying such seals one should always check the materials that are used. One can even check the Internet to know more about these seals.
